We're offering a permanent full-time contract within the Elephant Department. We’re offering a rare chance to join our passionate and experienced team of Asian Elephant Keepers at our renowned Monarto Safari Park. This is more than just a job — it’s a chance to be part of something extraordinary. As an Elephant Keeper, you will play a vital role in the daily care, health, and enrichment of our elephants. You’ll work closely with these magnificent animals, contributing directly to their welfare and to ongoing conservation efforts. This is a full-time role, working on a 7-day rotating roster. Key Responsibilities: - Daily husbandry tasks including feeding, cleaning, and health monitoring.
- Enrichment activities to stimulate natural behaviours.
- Assisting with veterinary care as required.
- Educating visitors and supporting conservation messaging.
- Working within a team on a 7-day rotating roster.
ABOUT YOU... To be considered for these positions you will need to meet the following selection criteria: - Passionate and dedicated about animal care and welfare.
- Experienced or dedicated to developing skills in elephant management.
- Possessing experience or a desire to grow expertise in animal training and behaviour.
- Physically fit and able to work in a demanding team environment.
- Excellent communicator and team player.
- Understand the value from engaging with visitors when undertaking informal conversations through to public encounters.
Requirements: - Demonstrated experience in elephant husbandry (minimum 12 months).
- Strong commitment to animal welfare and conservation.
- Flexibility to work on a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn through constructive feedback and critiquing training sessions.
- Certificate III in Wildlife and Exhibited Animal Care or equivalent.
