Adelaide Zoo and Monarto Safari Park are home to some of South Australia's most iconic landscapes, as well as more than half a million visitors each year. This is a unique opportunity to combine specialist arboricultural expertise with conservation, coordinating browse collection, tree management, and arboriculture projects while helping to maintain safe, healthy, and thriving environments for our animals, visitors, and staff. We are seeking an experienced Arboriculture Coordinator to join our Horticulture team on a permanent, full-time basis, working Monday to Friday (9-day fortnight). The ideal candidate will have solid arboricultural knowledge and experience, and enjoy engaging in a diverse, hands-on environment. As our Arboriculture Coordinator, you will: - Coordinate and execute browse collection operations to ensure a sustainable supply of browse for animal nutrition.
- Coordinate arboriculture projects and tree management activities across Adelaide Zoo.
- Undertake tree assessments and support tree risk management across Adelaide Zoo and Monarto Safari Park.
- Coordinate tree audit programs and maintain accurate tree asset records.
- Build and maintain relationships with councils, contractors, businesses and private landholders to secure browse sources.
- Provide day-to-day guidance and support to staff, volunteers and students.
- Work closely with the Horticulture Team Leader to deliver arboriculture projects and operational priorities.
- Help maintain safe, engaging and beautifully presented grounds for our visitors, staff and wildlife.
About you... - A Diploma of Arboriculture, or be actively working towards obtaining one.
- Demonstrated experience in arboriculture, tree maintenance and tree risk management.
- Experience in undertaking tree assessments and tree auditing programs.
Experience coordinating arboriculture projects or leading day-to-day operational activities. - Chainsaw competency and experience operating arboricultural equipment safely.
- Strong knowledge of tree species identification and arboricultural practices.
Current unrestricted driver's licence. - Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
