Zoos SA is seeking applications from experienced and motivated Veterinarians to join our Veterinary Services team on a casual basis, working across both Adelaide Zoo and Monarto Safari Park. These roles offer a unique opportunity to contribute to high-quality veterinary care, research, education, and conservation outcomes across Zoos SA’s diverse animal collections, external clients, and free-ranging wildlife. Casual Veterinarians may be engaged to support operational requirements across a 7-day roster, including weekends, public holidays, and occasional after-hours work. ABOUT THE ROLE... Reporting to the Senior Veterinarian, Casual Veterinarians will deliver veterinary services to Zoos SA’s animal collections and clients, as well as free-ranging wildlife, across both Adelaide Zoo and Monarto Safari Park. Depending on operational needs, you may also contribute to education and research activities, including course and curriculum support, delivery of research projects, supervision of veterinary and tertiary students, and assistance with publications or grant-related work. While there are no direct reports, the leadership and direction of zoo staff during clinical procedures and other relevant veterinary activities is expected. You will also contribute to the review of existing practices and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, supporting Zoos SA’s mission to save species and connect people with nature. ABOUT YOU... The successful candidate will have A veterinary degree is eligible for registration in South Australia. Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people. Demonstrated ability to plan and organise work, manage competing priorities, and operate in complex environments. Commitment to Workplace Health & Safety and organisational compliance. Ability to work across a 7-day roster, including public holidays, with occasional after-hours duties. Willingness to maintain required vaccinations, including rabies, tetanus, hepatitis, and Q fever.
