Facility and Grounds Caretaker (Casual Position)
Monarto Safari Park

Zoos SA is a not-for-profit conservation charity that exists to save species from extinction and connect people with nature. As one of the largest open range zoos in the world, spanning more than 1,500 hectares of fauna and flora, we're excited to be expanding Monarto Safari Park, the largest safari park that will exist outside of Africa and a rare and exciting project, the construction of an elephant habitat!

 

We're also excited to be expanding Monarto Safari Park with a first-of-its-kind luxury resort, luxury tents and lodge facilities. In May 2025 Monarto Safari Park began offering longer visits and a range of new and wild safari experiences in an area known as Wild Africa including incredible tours through herds of roaming animals.

 

Monarto Safari Park is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Facility and Grounds Caretaker to undertake work across Monarto Safari Park and Wild Africa.  

 

ABOUT THE ROLE...

This casual role will work across our Monarto Safari Park and Wild Africa site undertaking the upkeep and maintenance of a designated facility, ensuring a clean, sanitary, and well-maintained environment for occupants and visitors. Duties include cleaning and disinfecting restrooms, replenishing supplies, and maintaining amenities to high standards of cleanliness. Additionally, the role involves outdoor tasks such as weeding, litter removal, and general landscaping to enhance the overall appearance and functionality of the facility. This role plays a crucial role in preserving the facility's integrity and ensuring a positive experience for all users. All duties will span across the entire site of Monarto Safari Park and the Wild Africa precinct.

 

As part of this role, day-to-day tasks may include:

  • Clean and sanitise restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors.
  • Replenish restroom supplies such as toilet paper, hand soap, and paper towels.
  • Clean and disinfect amenities like break rooms, kitchenettes, and common areas.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust indoor surfaces throughout the facility.
  • Empty trash bins and recycling containers, ensuring proper waste disposal.
  • Perform outdoor tasks, including weeding, watering plants, and trimming bushes.
  • Remove litter and debris from outdoor areas to maintain cleanliness and safety.
  • Inspect and report maintenance issues or safety hazards to appropriate personnel.
  • Assist with setting up and breaking down rooms for events or meetings.
  • Follow cleaning schedules and protocols to uphold cleanliness and hygiene standards. 

ABOUT YOU...

To be considered for this position you will need to meet the following selection criteria:

  • Experience working in cleaning, caretaking of facilities or grounds keeping.
  • Availability to work across a seven-day rotating roster including weekends and public holidays, with the Monarto Safari Park hours of operation being 7:00 AM to 8:30 PM during daylight savings.
  • Hold a current drivers licence.
