We are currently seeking an experienced, motivated, and hands-on Horticulturist to join our Horticulture team at Adelaide Zoo. This is a full-time, 6-month contract role working across a 5-day roster.

About the role:

Guided by Zoos SA’s values, you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the beautiful, immersive environments that support both our animals and visitor experience. • Work collaboratively with team members, while also being confident working independently

About you:

You are a practical, proactive horticulturist who takes pride in your work and enjoys contributing to a team environment. You bring strong communication skills and a genuine interest in supporting a purpose-driven organisation.

To be successful, you will have:

  • A current driver’s licence, manual capability desirable
  • A White Card
  • Demonstrated knowledge of horticultural techniques and practices
  • A strong understanding of Workplace Health and Safety principles
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with colleagues, volunteers, and visitors

Desirable candidates will also:

  • Tickets or licences such as Working at Heights, skid steer, front-end loader, forklift, tractor or chainsaw

Why join Zoos SA?

This is more than a horticulture role; it is an opportunity to contribute to a conservation-focused organisation where your work directly supports animal wellbeing, environmental sustainability, and memorable visitor experiences.
