ABOUT THE ROLE…
We have an exciting opportunity for an Events Assistant to join our small, busy, and high-achieving Events team. This role will be offered as a Permanent Full-time position across a 7-day roster. It will be based in Adelaide Zoo, but you will be required to travel to Monarto Safari Park when necessary.
Reporting directly to the Events Manager, you will assist with developing, coordinating and delivering our 18-month calendar of school holiday programs and Zoos SA signature events (including Boo at the Zoo, Illuminate: Universal Kingdom and Teddy Bear's Picnic, to name a few!).
A major focus of the role is to develop Zoos SA’s reach into a diverse range of markets, which will help the organisation meet its community engagement, conservation, and fundraising objectives.
Your responsibilities will include (however not limited to) –
- Assist the Event Manager in sourcing and contacting suppliers, arranging quotes, confirming bookings and maintaining ongoing relationships with suppliers;
- Develop draft running sheets for events;
- Develop a schedule of activities;
- Identify and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the smooth delivery of events with minimal disruption to day-to-day zoo operations;
- Prepare reports and contribute to various policies and procedures; and
- Research additional community engagement and revenue-generating opportunities for Zoos SA.
ABOUT YOU...
To be considered for this position, you will have/be -
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Event Management/Tourism/Hospitality or related areas (or studying towards qualifications); or equivalent experience in events, tourism and hospitality industry;
- Excellent creativity skills, with the ability to conceptualise engaging themed events and activities;
- Self-motivated and shows initiative;
- Well-developed observational skills and attention to detail;
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with internal and external customers, contacts, potential sponsors and suppliers; and
- Understanding of conservation and environmental issues and the demonstrated capacity to apply this knowledge in a visitor-focused setting.
