With the rollout of a 20-year Master Plan and a number of exciting projects on the horizon, Zoos SA is thrilled to be expanding and evolving its workforce to position it for continued growth into the future. The Adelaide Zoo is looking for an experienced, motivated, and enthusiastic Horticulturist to join our Horticulture team. The position will be permanent, full-time, and work over a 5-day roster. The successful candidate will be guided by Zoos SA’s values and work with the horticulture team to achieve the goals in the Strategic and Business Plans. In addition, under general supervision and within specified guidelines, they will perform all horticulture duties safely, efficiently and effectively. As part of our Horticulture team, you will: - Have excellent communication skills as well as the ability to work well within a team and independently;
- Undertake landscaping, maintenance and general care of habitats and grounds;
- Have the ability to identify plant species;
- Be required to assist in the collection of foliage for animal food and the collection of items for landscaping purposes; and
- Ensure the highest standards with presentation of grounds and facilities.
ABOUT YOU... To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the following selection criteria: - Have or be working towards a Certificate III in Horticulture
- Driver's licence, manual experience desirable;
- Have an awareness and ability to use horticulture techniques and practices;
- Working at heights qualification is desirable.
- Knowledge and understanding of Workplace Health & Safety principles and process; and
- High communication and interpersonal skills with peers, staff, volunteers and public.
